Eu criei este blog originalmente para mandar notícias minhas de fora do Brasil. Mas hoje vou fazer o caminho inverso.
Estando aqui no Brasil e falando com o meu cunhado esses dias, o mesmo comentou sobre um documento para se ter permissão de dirigir fora do Brasil chamado PID (Permissão Internacional para Dirigir). O PID pode ser solicitado por motoristas habilitados no Brasil e com a CNH (Carteira Nacional de Habilitação) válida. O PID é impresso em 7 idiomas: Português, Espanhol, Russo, Árabe, Inglês, Alemão e Francês; e pode ser usado nos países signatários da convenção de Viena. Vale dizer também que a validade do PID é a mesma da CNH.
De posse dessas informações, eu fui então a um dos escritórios do DETRAN-RS aqui em Santa Maria, e a obtenção do PID foi muito simples. Precisei somente apresentar um comprovante de residência no RS (que no caso foi o endereço da minha irmã) e a CNH. Também tive que efeturar o pagamento de R$ 38,50, depois do qual fui orientado a aguardar alguns dias para receber a permissão. Muito fácil e simples... surpreendente até, eu diria, vindo da famosa burocracia brasileira.

Spending my vacation days here in Brazil, I took the opportunity to talk with my sister's boyfriend some days ago and he told me about a document, named PID (Permissão Internacional para Dirigir) or IPD (International Permission to Drive), whether literally translating into English. IPD is a document that can be requested by Brazilian drivers who have a valid national driving licence (CNH). IPD is printed in 7 different languages: Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, English, German, and French; and it is allowed to be used in those countries that signed the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. In addition, it is worth of saying that the IPD expiration date is the same as the CNH one.
With all the information above in mind, I went to one of the DETRAN-RS branches in Santa Maria in order to apply for my IPD. The process for obtaining my IPD was quite simple. I just needed to present a proof of residence and my CNH document. I also had to pay R$ 38,50 for the request of my IPD. I was then informed that I should wait some days till my IPD is ready. I gotta say that I found the request process quite easy and simple... in such a way surprising, due to the very famous Brazilian bureaucracy.
